Masonic Thoughts

Seeds of Discipline: Excellence is a Habit

yesnowis

We learn by observation, imitation and repetition.

Habits begin as offhanded remarks, ideas and images. And then, layer upon layer, through practice, they grow from cobwebs into cables that shackle or strengthen our lives.

Habits are like submarines. They run silent and deep..

First we make our habits, then our habits make us.

Habits are like comfortable beds. They are easy to get into, but difficult to get out of.

Winning and losing are both learned habits…

Masonic Bits and Pieces

Will Rodgers:

At the age of 25 Will Rodgers petitioned Claremont Lodge No. 53, Oklahoma for the degrees in Masonry and received his third degree on March 13, 1906. He later joined the Scottish Rite Bodies and Akdar Shrine Temple in Tulsa in November 1914.

Americans and American Masons can be proud of the memory and legacy of Will Rogers. Even before he became a Mason he was already following its tenets and continued to do so for the rest of his days. He was the epitome of "Charity, Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth" wherein Masons are taught to regard the whole human species as one family, uniting men of every country, sect and opinion. Will Rogers, lived these tenets to the fullest; he will be forever missed.

From the old records:

At the July 1846 meeting after working an EA degree and a FC degree we find the following "As our next regular communication will be in the busy time of haying, it was Voted, that we adjourn to our regular communication on September 2 unless called together upon some special emergency."
