Lets make the effort to get it at their next Stated meeting the 21st April 2005 Third Thursday of the Month. It takes at least 5 five Brothers to take possession of it, a number of Lodges are after it so it may take more then five of our members.

Note

From Your Secretary: Please help me keep the records straight by informing me of any change of address, change of status, etc. It also helps if you send your dues payments in early so that I do not have the extra burden of chasing delinquent members. At present there are 8 members with-out their current dues card. Brother if you do not have a 2005 dues card you are delinquent.. I am basically a lazy person and I do not want to be required sent out a lot of correspondence to members regarding past due payments. Please have the courtesy to answer any correspondence that I send so there is no duplication of effort. Thank you to the Brethren who enclosed a donation along with their dues. If you need an application to give to someone you feel might like to join the craft, please obtain one from the Secretary or any of the Officers.

Masonic Thoughts

Nostalgia: A device that removes the ruts

and potholes from memory lane.

History: an account mostly false, of events mostly unimportant,

Which are brought about by rulers, mostly knaves, and soldiers, mostly fools.

Masonic Bits and Pieces

Perspective

Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.

Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel

That you, too, can become great.

Character is doing what’s right when nobody’s looking.

From the old records:

In the records of the April 9th 1851 meeting I find 2 items of interest: 1st, a committee was "chosen to visit brother Samuel Polleys, Chaplain of this Lodge, on account of the unfavorable reports concerning his having become intemperate." and 2nd, it was resolved to switch the meeting night to Thursday on or preceding the full moon instead of Wednesday.

The committee’s report is recorded as follows:

"Knox, April 10th, 1851. The committee whose names appear on the preceding page met at the time, place and purpose for which they were appointed, and brother Polleys being invited to meet with us, accepted the invitation. On being informed of our business with him, and nameing to him some of the unfavorable reports in circulation in regard to his having become intemperate etc, he did not deny any of them imputing the cause to the neglect of his parishioners in making provision for his family. He appeared to be penitent and promised to reform and meet with us at our adjournment. /s/Seth Webb"

Bro. Polleys does not appear to have attended meetings in the following months.
